Payal Rohatgi was born on November 9, 1982 in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, India. Her parents are Veena Rohatgi and Shashank Rohatgi. Along with her brother, Gaurav Rohatgi, she grew up in Ahmedabad in Gujarat. A computer engineer from L.D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad by profession. Payal studied in Udgam School. Payal Rohatgiwas always attracted to the modelling and fashion world. Payal Rohatgi won the title of Miss Tourism World in 2001, against candidates from 65 countries. She was also a finalist at the Femina Miss India contest in 2000. These successes encouraged Payal to enter the entertainment industry and so she moved to Mumbai. She is approximately 5'6" tall, and her star-sign is Scorpio.

She started her career by modelling for popular brands like Amul, Nirma, and Nescafe. She gained attention after appearing in a television ad for Cadbury's Temptations Chocolates. Around this time Payal Rohatgi also appeared in music videos by rock band Silk Route and Indipop artist Kay Kay.

Payal Rohatgi is known for her sizzling adventures in bunch of B grade movies. Lady for sure is getting into A league with rising popularity courtesy Bigg Boss. As against expectations, she is sober and sweet in the house. No tiny clothes and her dressing is very decent in Bigg Boss. Payal first appeared in Bollywood after performing in Harry Baweja's Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai?, a Hindi remake of the Hollywood teen flick American Pie. She shot into the limelight by doing some B & C grade small budget films, but seemed to have a change of heart as Payal Rohatgi realised that these small budget films were not of her sensibility as these films released badly and were shot badly.

She made her acting debut in 2006 as one of the lead characters in the A grade Bollywood film 36 China Town. The movie starred the well-known actors Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, and Paresh Rawal. Later that year, Payal Rohatgi appeared in the critically acclaimed Corporate where, ironically, she played the part of an item girl.

Payal Rohatgi is hot, sexy and an incredibly good dancer to boot. When she scorched the big screen and sent temperatures soaring with her raunchy number ‘Ayee re mahi’ in Kulbhushan Gupta’s ‘Police Force’ we knew Payalwas Bollywood’s new item girl.

In 2007, she had her first release with Priyadarshan's film Dhol, produced by the Percept Picture Company. Payal Rohatgi played a positive second lead character, paired opposite Arbaaz Khan.

In 2008, she was seen in a cameo opposite Ranvir Shorey in PNC film Ugly Aur pagli which was released in August 2008. In mid-September she signed on to another role opposite Irfan Khan in a TV18 film Dil Kabaddi. Payal Rohatgiwill be playing the role of an aerobics instructor and sports a very toned, lean look in the film.

Payal Rohatgi is a Bollywood actress who started her career by modeling for Nescafe, Amul and Nirma.

Basics

Payal was born in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, India on November 9, 1978. She was born to Veena Rohatgi and Shashank Rohatgi. She has a brother called Gaurav Rohatgi. She grew up in Ahmedabad. Her schooling was from Udgam School and she finished her engineering from L.D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad. She participated in the Femina Miss India contest (2002) and was influenced to join the entertainment industry.

She gained popularity through a reality show Big Boss on Colors and also won Miss Tourism World in 2002 in Medellin, South America .

Movies

Payal Rohatgi started her career with Harry Baweja’s Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai (2002) and also appeared in a number of small budget films. She was in a small role in the multi starrer film 36 China Town where she was seen opposite Paresh Rawal and then played an item girl in Corporate. Payal played a lead role in Priyadarshan’s comedy flick Dhol (2007) where she was seen opposite to Arbaaz Khan.

She was paired with Ranvir Shorey in Ugly Aur Pagli which released in 2008 and also signed a movie Diol Kabbadi opposite to Irfan Khan where she plays the role of an aerobics instructor.

She performed in the comedy show Comedy Circus - Chinchpokli to China on Sony. She also appeared in a lot of ad films, one of them was for Dabur's Lal Dantmanjan with cricketer Virender Sehwag and with Amitabh Bachchan for Eveready battery advertisement.

Payal has opened a website www.mypayalrohatgi.com where people get a chance to talk to her personally, mail her, download her pictures, themes etc. She has signed a Bollywood movie which is about 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai where she will play the role of a journalist.

She is a social activist also and has worked actively for the benefit of drug addicts and alcoholics and has also participated in World Anti Drugs Day on June 26th. She also works for an NGO called Jeevan Dhara in Mumbai.
