Katy Perry has made pop history as the second performer to have five number one hits in the US Hot 100. The singer, whose latest song Last Friday Night, tipped her into the top position this week making it five number ones from her latest album. Michael Jackson is the only other performer to have had five chart toppers from his album, Bad.

Katy managed to bump LMFAO off the charts overnight and she woke up thanking her fans. “What a way to wake up!” she tweeted. “So proud to announce that the little-engine-that-could of a song Last Friday Night is officially no.1 and made history! I couldn’t have done it without ya, really I owe you guys big, so take this moment to give yourself a high five.”
