A Thai couple from Bangkok named Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat has sealed a new record for the longest kissing after they locked their lips for 46 hours and 24 minutes. The pair won a diamond ring worth 50,000 Thai Baht (1,606 dollars) and a 100,000 Baht (3,213 dollar) cash prize.
The previous record – 32 hours, 7 minutes and 14 seconds – was set in 2009 by a couple in Germany. The Guinness World Records still have to verify the latest record kiss for it to become official.
Husband and wife team Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat were one of 14 couples taking part in “World’s Longest Continuous Kiss” competition held to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day in Pattaya.
According to the rules, the competitors were not allowed to part their lips at any time. They were allowed to drink things like water, coffee, milk or juice – but only through straws while continuing to kiss.
They also had to remain embraced during bathroom breaks possible every three hours. No sitting or sleeping was permitted.
